Biking for Babies is a month away from kicking off its 9th annual national ride as an organization. Trainer and rider Kevin is preparing for his 7th Biking for Babies ride and this time of year always has him asking an honest question: “am I ready?”
Year after year, Biking for Babies missionaries establish local rides to raise funds, raise awareness, and also to continue training in community. Jonathan shares about last year’s Wisconsin ride, ridden with “gusts of trial and the hills of torment,” and completely blessed with friendships, evangelization, and encouragement. Divine Mercy Sunday was two days ago, and for many of us, it gave us a moment to reflect on our sinfulness but more importantly, God’s loving mercy! Part of this is trusting in the Lord’s goodness. Our mission is to support pregnancy resource centers financially and to tell the nation of their existence, because if at the end of the day, if we reach just one individual who needs guidance — if we have helped only one person walk through the doors of their local PRC — we know that God is working to save another life.
Support crew-ing can be a tough job, they’re the ones with the least amount of sleep and the most amount of filling-up-the-water-bottles, but we sat down with two former crew members to ask them about their experiences on the road and they shared with us some pretty awesome insights. Fully relying on God has been for me, a constant battle. Doesn’t it sound so easy, “Just, rely on God!” but isn’t it such a hard practice? Since becoming involved with Biking for Babies, I have seen so much growth in my willingness and ability to rely more on Christ, and less on myself – and I see the more I let go and turn things over to Him, my work is magnified by His grace, and my heart is settled by his loving support.
So, with such beautiful results, why is fully relying on God so hard to do? I’ve been pondering some reasons with an open heart and I’ve got three for you.
