PRO-LIFE MISSISSIPPI is an organization of diverse and caring Christians drawn together by our commitment to the sanctity of human life from fertilization to natural death. At their recent banquet, one of their success stories shared her testimony. Read on to learn how your impact of supporting this center has changed lives:
Good Evening. First and foremost, I would like to thank God for all the blessings He has stored upon my life.
I am April Lindsey, the mother of three and a grandparent of one, and I would like to share a little of my story about the support Pro-Life Mississippi has been to my family.
A year ago, I was unemployed and was faced with foreclosure and lost my home. In the midst of my foreclosure, my 15 year old daughter Tariona announces she is pregnant. At that time, I felt that I wasn’t in a stable living condition to raise another child, so I considered abortion as an option. Tariona wanted to keep her baby. I myself am against abortion, but I felt that I had no other choice. I began to pray to God about the situation because I felt myself becoming depressed. We arrived to the abortion clinic. We met a few protesters at the entrance. We were approached by Miss Rebekah Tate, and I shared with her our situation. She referred us to the Center for Pregnancy Choices where my daughter received free treatment. Miss Rebekah also offered her services as far as helping us raise the baby.
As the months passed by, we kept in touch with Rebekah as she took the time to reach out to other individuals about our situation. We were introduced to Ms. Ashley Newsome who volunteered to throw a baby shower for my granddaughter. At the baby shower, we met others from Pro-Life MS and Grace Community Church whom took it upon their hearts to be a tremendous blessing to my family.
In August of 2017, when my granddaughter was born, she was blessed with everything she needed. I soon saw my life getting back on track…but suddenly in the end of February, another tragedy occurs in my life, and I found myself homeless again due to a house fire where we lost everything. I felt confused, helpless and I began to ask myself,”why do things like this happen in my life?” I reached out to Mrs. Laura Knight and Pro-Life MS where they became of immediate assistance again. We received clothes, gift cards, and contacts for other organizations for support.
From the beginning, Pro-Life MS has helped my family. Now my family has a new home and has gained more than what was lost. We thank God everyday for teaching us and guiding us in this path of life.
