Here is a Story…

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to attend SEEK.  A conference held in Orlando put on by FOCUS, Fellowship of Catholic University Students.  While there I went to a talk about becoming active in the prolife work.  The key moment I took away from this talk was that we, as individuals, need to be active every day; because the people that are actively trying to tear you down are not taking any breaks. This hit me the hardest because while I was at SEEK, everything seemed good.  It’s a different experience from when I’m at school rather than with 3,000 like-minded and common moral people.

I got the chance to be active for the prolife work in my Law and Literature class from this past semester.  We were talking about religious freedoms on key law concepts.  The example proposed was should those, living in the United States, whose religious beliefs prohibit them from engaging in violence be mandated to register for selective service? Most of the class agreed that these citizens should be exempt.  Then I proposed a question stating that by this logic, why should obstetricians be mandated to perform abortions if it’s against their moral conscious?  Afterwards, I had to defend myself and subsequently my moral conscience against those who agreed that these obstetricians should be mandated.

And so this upcoming ride is our chance to become active in the fight for the right to life.  Those people who are actively trying to deny the right to life will not stop, so why should we?  It is important that we speak out for those who have not be given that chance, for the babies.
