Yesterday, the riders impressed us all by traveling an unprecedented 230 miles from Union City, Tennessee to Effingham, Illinois. The day was long and filled with trials. The team travelled in four states, rode a ferry across the Mississippi, endured a thunderstorm, battled wind in the morning, and dodged heat for the rest of the day. The ride concluded in darkness. We lost our race with the sun and the support van had to escort them along the last ten miles with flashers and brights.
However, the 8:45 PM arrival in Effingham was joyful and welcome and it has allowed the team to rest well on Sunday – the last day before the final leg into Champaign, Illinois.
It is the hope of the riders that their intense push for mileage yesterday will encourage those on the fence to make a decisive move to defend life, whether that is increased prayer, donating to this or other campaigns, or simply spreading awareness. We hope sincerely that you all have enjoyed the ride thus far and we look forward to a fantastic finish tomorrow in Champaign.
The Driver,
Stephen
